La Fête

The festivities began with Henrik Kalinski playing the most Swiss of instruments, the alphorn.
Listen carefully to hear the Swiss cow bells in the background.

The '50s theme was open to interpretation

The celebration really began with the entrance of Jurek surrounded by 4 (count 'em!) Marilyns!

The Marilyns assembled a fantastic work of love: a Jurek-By-The-Decades collage of his life, starting with pictures from birth-to-now strung around the room.  A slideshow filled in the details complete with Inka as Michael Jackson and Uta appearing in her wedding dress (which fit just barely she noted).  The culmination was son Marcin announcing the inaugural Pazsowski Sailing Cup to be won every other year on the wild family lake in Poland.   Gentlemen, start your Lasers.

Music flowed from the pipes of JP Metraux and his Latin Jazz band Cochinando made up of scientists and musicians.

Everyone danced into the night.

Alice made sure everyone said hi to Fred on Skype for the iPad.

The dancing continued well into the morning fueled by the eclectic Nina P dance party sound machine.   Not everyone made it.

Eric noted that the two guys who just had turned 60 -- Jurek and JP -- both stayed up until 5:30AM and were up again by 10AM.  Guess the rest of us just weren't old enough.

We said good-bye to Pension En Plein Air and all our friends, new, young and old.  We marveled at Uta's organization: food and drink and beds for 75, a glorious hike (thank you for the weather Uta!!) a fabulous party with music, dancing and fun for all. We climbed back in to the car and did the reverse commute back to Norwich.  Eric drove us to Geneva, Easy Jet took us to Gatwick and Caroline ferried us back home.

Until next time!

Onwards.
