Parkrun First Timers

Saturday we headed to Eaton Park to run our first Norwich Parkrun.

Parkruns are weekly 5Ks run in the UK, Denmark, Australia and Afghanistan (at Camp Bastion, a British military base).  They are free and timed.  One registers, prints a bar code, then shows up at the starting line at 9AM Saturday morning.  That's it.

The starting area has a Roman coliseum vibe.

Sun was shining!

First ever Uwharrie hat appearance at Norwich parkrun I bet

About 200 runners at the starting line.  Running time starts when the gun goes off.

You are given a code card as you cross the finish line indicating your place and time.  You then check in with your bar code to claim that place.  Results are on-line by lunch-time. [picture credit: Alice Ward]

The course is 3 loops around Eaton park.  Very flat. Very fast. Dad ran a 23:52.

Mom ran 30:32, not breaking 30 but 3rd in her age group.  Something to go for.

Dozens Artisan Barkery on the way home, how convenient.  We were missing Rosie and Simon...

Onwards!
