The Royal Family Does The Time Warp

Brought up a rather funny visual, didn't it?

Thank you to David Drewry whose lone off-hand comment made during a track meet lull so many months ago gave us the triangulation needed to plop down £17 each for 3 rear stall seats to the very last production of this seasons' panto: Sleeping Beauty.

Panto is traditionally performed during the Christmas season, though few if any references are made to Christmas.  The story may be familiar but many of the characters are in drag, the comedy is slapstick, the audience yells out tips and clues to help take down the villan, there is at least one animal, one chorus of children, and the plot resolves in a quite unpredictable way with, on center stage, the double entendre.

Last night we heard Michael Bublé, Miley Cyrus, Abba, Ghostbusters and several more I did not recognize or was too overwhelmed by the costumes to remember. We sang two sing-a-longs, kept the evil step-mother on stage left (the Hell side) reminded Mr. Pickles to water his plant with radioactive water (banned in the EU) and were melted by the children dressed up as puppy dogs who first follow evil and then are brought round to good by love and treats.

The finale was, yep, the Royal Family singing Time Warp from Rocky Horror.

Beatrice's hat made the cut.

Onwards, with a giggle.
